Job Description
The Assistant Station Manager (ASM), coordinates project personnel and resources to ensure construction of the Station for BSP are complete within the project schedule. The ASM is responsible to assist with all the design and build activities associated with the Stations construction with the authority to coordinate construction and production operations to the project/management.
- Assist the Station Manager for the overall supervision of commercial, industrial, municipal and civil aspects of the Station construction while complying with all the applicable Health & safety and environmental requirements.
- Provide support and work closely with the design and construction teams, consultant engineers, subcontractors and local authorities to ensure the quality of the project, the completion on time and within budget.
- Assist with all station construction activities.
- Assist the Station Manager providing the direction to ensure project elements within their control being completed within the allocated period of time and within the budget that has been assigned and ensuring the project work will be executed respecting the quality and security standards.
- Understand best practices of job set-up and management, understand the critical path of decision making.
- Optimize between factors affecting timing, engineering cost, quality and constructability.
- Assist the Station Manager reviewing weekly job costs and formula project cost projections on bi-weekly basis and approve all subcontractor or material supplier invoices.
- Participate in safety meetings and training.
- Ensures that the construction work is performed in accordance with the contract documents and to acceptable standards of quality and workmanship including company QC Plan.
- Ensures work is carried out in accordance with company safety policy including OHSA,
- Provincial and Federal legislation and union agreements.
- Build strong relationships with subcontractors and key vendors earning their respect, while at the same time treating them as partners and protecting the Company’s interests.
- Possess confidence and ability to execute without significant oversight, but having an equal willingness and sense to seek input from supervisors, peers, and company experts when needed.
Required Skills And Competencies
- Maintains courteous and professional manner, and works well in a team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize competing tasks to meet tight
- deadlines
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering or acceptable combination education and or experience.
- Minimum 6-8 years’ experience as a Field Engineer in transportation, subway and/or LRT
- sector.
- Proficient in scheduling software, such as, MS Project or Primavera.
- Direct experience in tunneling and/or deep excavation
