What’s on offer?
We currently have a vacancy for a Trainee Laboratory Technician to join the team at Fulton Hogan based at our Ormeau laboratory. This position will suit a motivated entry level individual seeking to embark on a career within this field of expertise.
Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor and with support and mentoring, you will be responsible for the testing of asphalt, aggregates & PMB to relevant standard methods in our NATA Laboratory. Including:
- Sampling and testing asphalt, aggregates and bitumen including onsite sampling.
- The handling and management of chemicals in line with relevant standards.
- Management of reporting, record keeping and calibrations including reporting non-conforming product.
- Conducting procedures safely and maintain good housekeeping of laboratory and surrounds.
- Providing technical support to production departments.
To be successful in this position you will require the following skills/experience:
- Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure and achieve deadlines.
- Professional communication, written and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety, quality, punctuality, reliability, respect for others and to work as part of an efficient team
- Valid Driver’s Licence.
- Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques or willing to complete.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
This position will require you to work nightshift and weekends and may require travel.
