Project Overview:
Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets.
Headquartered in Santiago, Chile, the M&M global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and other project locations around the world.
Job Summary:
As CSA Engineering Group Supervisor, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project’s civil/structural aspects.
You will lead design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil/structural components and processes.
Your technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project’s civil/structural aspects are met.
Major Responsibilities:
- Plans and conducts in-dependent scope of work and technical specifications for Civil/Structural design and field investigations on large size projects or assignments in support of a global business unit.
- Leads the design, development, modification and evaluation of Civil/Structural components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
- Reviews and approves key design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, change orders, and bid summaries for the project to which assigned.
- Designs structures using advanced knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering.
- Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirements.
- Originates and checks complex Civil/Structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions.
- Other responsibilities as designated.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires a bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Technical knowledge of, and experience in, Civil / Structural engineering discipline, including methodology, cost, scheduling, and contracts administration relating to the construction of mining and metals projects.
- Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment with prior experience supervising and administering subcontractors.
- Knowledge of a single or multi-discipline construction or engineering operation.
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
- Demonstrated capabilities in a leadership position, mentoring and guiding others.
Working Rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required.
