The Opportunity
The TFI capital projects and engineering team is currently being expanded to bolster support for the upcoming exciting projects in the pipeline and looking for an experienced Project Manager.
The Project Manager Development position entails overseeing the initiation to handover/completion of strategic projects within the national TFI Group, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, timeliness, and budgetary constraints.
Collaborating closely with the Group Engineering and Capital Program Manager, this role guarantees the successful execution of all projects by managing the coordination of design, budgeting, and approval processes—both internally and in compliance with regulatory standards.
Moreover, the Project Manager Development serves as the primary driver in overseeing the construction, equipment installation and commissioning of multiple projects concurrently.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the comprehensive process from design coordination to final delivery, encompassing budgeting, tendering, approvals, cost management, stakeholder engagement, and schedule adherence.
- Effectively oversee multiple projects of various scales concurrently, ensuring each project progresses smoothly within defined parameters.
- Coordinate with external entities such as the EPA, Council, Building Certifiers, and Insurers to facilitate information exchange and obtain necessary approvals.
- Develop comprehensive scope of work documents to facilitate the solicitation of quotes from diverse vendors for all project components.
- Prepare Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) documents, incorporating team-reviewed project scopes, quotations, and timelines for approval by the TFI Board.
- Engage and coordinate contractors efficiently for project execution, ensuring alignment with TFI's Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies.
- Organize and coordinate contractors during the installation and commissioning phases of projects, conducting regular toolbox meetings on-site to ensure smooth execution.
- Ensure projects are delivered professionally, managing aspects such as cost, time, risk, quality, and WHS compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
About You
- Tertiary Education in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, Chemical or processing Engineering, Construction Management or other related discipline required.
- Proven successful end to end project management experience of complex construction and automation projects within FMCG. Food processing industry experience would be desirable.
- Proficient in managing multiple contracts and guiding project teams with extensive experience from central office.
- Strategically-minded individual capable of organizing and prioritizing a program of works, including resource allocation strategies to enhance productivity and expenditure efficiency.
- Effective communicator adept at motivating and guiding teams, as well as managing contractors.
