About The Role
The department’s capital works program is a significant, high-profile program with over $600m in active capital works projects across our education system. This includes $175m for the delivery of five technical colleges which are designed to deliver a new learning ecosystem connecting students, industry and local community to create work-ready school leavers.
The Project Leader is responsible for strategically prioritising and overseeing the department’s high-risk capital works projects with a primary focus on the delivery of 4 technical colleges by the start of 2026. The position leads the development of creative, timely, practical strategies and insightful business solutions and makes a leading contribution to the development, implementation and monitoring of projects that achieve high quality learning outcomes to support the delivery of contemporary vocational skills training and teaching and learning in accordance with government and department priorities. The Project Leader is a trusted advisor on key risks, issues and opportunities and plays a key role in analysing, evaluating and implementing strategies to ensure high risk projects are successfully delivered within the required timeframes and in accordance with Department for Education planning and design standards.
The position works in consultation with the Director, Capital Projects and Technical Services, to deliver on existing and new schools and technical colleges and has a pivotal role in leading and managing stakeholder relationships across public and private sectors to proactively identify and diffuse issues and resolve complex and critical capital works issues to ensure the delivery of key project milestones.
Desirable Qualifications
- Tertiary or post-secondary qualifications in an appropriate discipline, i.e. Education, Project Management, Asset Management or equivalent experience.

Special Conditions
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration
Starting from $127,859 up to $153,430.80 per annum (negotiable), plus 11.5% superannuation.
