- $73,734 pa (includes industry allowance and uniform allowance) + 12% super + a commuter use vehicle + leave loading. Progression in remuneration (up to Level 8 - $75,378 pa inc. allowances + super) is available for this position upon meeting performance and training requirements outlined in a structured crew leader framework.

As one of our Regional Rural Roads Crew Leader's working within the Roads and Drains team, you'll lead and work alongside a small team of labourers and machine operators delivering assigned maintenance tasks on Council's road network across the City of Moreton Bay Area. Your responsibilities will include:
- overseeing the onsite daily operational delivery of rural unsealed road maintenance or rural road shoulder maintenance activities
- providing guidance and technical support to an operational team - including external contractors
- carrying out general labouring tasks as required
- detecting relative defect causes to propose effective solutions
- taking the lead in identifying and allocating necessary resources/materials for task completion
- use technology/software to update and manage work orders and administrative tasks
- assisting with developing and reviewing plans, maintenance schedules and maintaining associated records

There are two Crew Leader positions available in separate teams focusing on slightly different rural roads maintenance activities, the teams are outlined below:
Unsealed/Gravel Roads Team - Caboolture Home Depot Location
The unsealed/gravel roads team undertake maintenance on Council's rural unsealed/gravel road network. The unsealed/gravel roads crew work with several pieces of plant/equipment necessary to complete the work which include a grader, roller, tipper truck and a water truck.
Shoulder Grading Crew - Petrie Home Depot Location (eventually transitioning to Narangba)
This team carry out both high and low road shoulder maintenance on Council's rural road network. The shoulder grading crew work with several pieces of plant/equipment necessary to complete the work which include a grader, roller, backhoe, tractor with rotary broom attachment/s, a water truck and a tipper truck.
About you
Ideally you will have demonstrated recent hands on experience in unsealed roads and/or shoulder maintenance and some experience working with similar machines and leading people. We'll definitely need you to bring your strong communication skills for effective interaction with both internal and external stakeholders, proven ability to perform manual tasks in safety oriented environments, proficiency with relevant technology and capability to handle basic administrative duties.
Paired with the above mentioned skills and experience, you will also hold:
- a current truck licence (minimum medium rigid - MR)
- a Construction Induction card (or be willing to obtain prior to commencement)
- a Certificate III in Civil Construction or a similar qualification in a relevant field
- a Traffic Management Implementation licence and a high risk work dogging (HRW DG) licence (or be willing to obtain within 6 months of commencement)
Additionally, certification in the operation of relevant plant/equipment such as (LG) Graders, (LB) Backhoes and (LR) Rollers would be considered highly desirable.
