PDA Surveyors, Engineers & Planners (PDA) is a Tasmania wide multi-disciplinary company of Surveyors, Civil Engineers and Town Planners. PDA provides a comprehensive land and engineering Surveying service for a wide range of projects and are seeking to appoint an Experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our talented team. Essential Criteria
- A relevant tertiary qualification (preferably in Australia)
- A Chartered Member (CPEng) of Engineers Australia or RPEQ
- 5+ years relevant experience
- Proven leadership capability and strong communication skills
- A current drivers licence
Desirable Criteria
- Experience using: Civil Site Designs, DRAINS, EPANET or similar design software
- Experience dealing with Council and Government projects
Responsibilities
The positions responsibilities are including but not limited to are:
- The preparation of civil engineering designs and investigations across a broad range of infrastructure projects, consisting mainly of roads, sewerage, water supply and stormwater drainage for both residential subdivisions and council infrastructure projects.
- Undertake the detail design, preparation of plans, specifications and estimates for a range of civil design projects.
- Monitor project plans to ensure objectives are being satisfied and provide timely advice to the Manager on any anticipated delays affecting project commitments.
- Review all design documentation prepared and ensure that it is correct, suitable for construction and in accordance with all relevant standards and legislation and complies with all the requirements of the Quality System Management System (QMS).
- Undertake technical investigations and prepare reports on a range of civil design projects.
- Investigate, document and prepare applications for statutory approvals.
- Research, prepare and implement effective design procedures.
- Effectively liaise with Public Utilities and other Authorities and staff regarding engineering matters.
- Undertake inspections of construction works to confirm compliance with design documentation.
- Provide assistance to other Engineering design staff as required.
- Work effectively and harmoniously as part of the engineering team.
- Undertake post design reviews and recommend areas of improvement.
- Ensure prompt and courteous responses to all enquiries and correspondence from Clients
- Maintain knowledge of policies and current best practice in Civil Engineering Design.
- Promote the image of the Company and the Engineering Department as being efficient, effective and client focussed.
- Ensure productivity targets for staff are monitored and any issues addressed.
- Participate and contribute to team-based activities that may include: Project Planning, support and quality improvement projects
Engineering Design
- Develop cost-effective design layouts based on construction specifications and requirements.
- Adhere to established design guidelines and procedures.
- Analyse design issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform civil design analysis and calculations according to project requirements.
- Determine construction cost and material estimates based on civil designs.
- Review project plans to determine the design feasibilities and constraints.
- Use latest software and technologies to develop effective designs.
- Maintain accurate design files for reference purposes.
- Consider health, safety and environmental requirements when developing civil designs.
- Manage design projects within allotted timelines and budgets.
- Perform design changes and improvements according to changing project demands.
- Stay abreast with latest developments within the civil design fields.
