Reporting to the Contracts Manager, the Senior Contracts Administrator will ensure efficient and effective management of the financial and contractual activities within the project.
We are looking for a highly experienced professional with a strong background in contract management, procurement, and claims handling. The ideal candidate will demonstrate outstanding formal writing skills and a proven track record of taking commercial ownership of projects, while providing vital support to the Contracts Manager and wider Commercial and Finance team.
The Project
McConnell Dowell and CPB Contractors, along with Design partners Mott McDonald, Arup and Aurecon have been awarded the Tram Grade Separation Projects as an Alliance, comprising of works at three main locations along the Glenelg Tram Line. The level crossings at Marion Road, Cross Road (MAC) and Morphett Road (MTX) will be replaced by tram overpasses, removing the interface with road traffic and creating new public spaces beneath. This project will improve network efficiency and safety at their locations for all users.
These projects will be delivered by the Tram Grade Separation Projects Alliance (TGSPA) together with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport.
Key Responsibilities
- Assume responsibility as the Commercial function representative on the project.
- Manage subcontract accounts and monitoring commercial performance.
- Ensure that all subcontracts, supply and services contracts are procured, executed, delivered and closed out.
- Mentor and support other site-based Contract Administration staff.
- Promote and carry out training of contract administration and project commercial staff.
- Identify, price, and negotiate variations to the contract.
- Accurate and timely financial and contractual reporting
Position Requirements
- Relevant Tertiary Qualifications and/or minimum of five years’ experience in commercial/contractual management in engineering and/or construction.
- A minimum of five years of financial management experience with at least three years in a construction environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of tendering and procurement processes.
- Knowledge and understanding of subcontract principles, together with the ability to draft and administer subcontracts.
- Commercial acumen accompanied by negotiation and inter-relationship skills.
- Clear and definitive communication skills - written and verbal.
- Proven ability to train, mentor, motivate and develop other Contract Administrators and Cost Administrators.
- Strong team player and demonstrated ability to work as part of, or lead, a team.
- Superior organisational and time management skills.
This role is based in the project office, Adelaide CBD. From early 2025 the role will relocate to the project site (Metro - South of Adelaide CBD), to support the project operations team in a construction environment.
A competitive salary, commensurate with this key role, will be offered to the successful candidate.
This position is based in Adelaide, South Australia.
