Design Engineering Manager

Harry Maxwell has been engaged to conduct an executive search for a well-known turnkey engineering company that provides design & drafting capabilities, custom manufacturing, site installation and ongoing maintenance support services.
The Design Engineering Manager will report directly to the Managing Director and will join the leadership team based in the Workshop.
Your Responsibilities:
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers, primarily providing technical expertise as well as guidance and mentorship to ensure project objectives are met.
- Be responsible for technical approval and sign-off of the project’s engineering and design.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their requirements, develop project scopes, and deliver customised solutions that meet or exceed expectations. Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies, with a strong focus on health, safety, and environmental stewardship.
- Experience in designing earthmoving equipment including new; excavator, loader & shovel buckets in accordance with OEM specifications.
- Reverse engineer existing components & preparing repair design packages.
About You:
- 5+ years designing new excavator & loader buckets.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks package for 3D modelling.
- Ability to complete end-to-end design including concept, 3D designs models, preparing GA models, producing design drawings, checking assembly & parts drawings as well as preparing bills of materials.
- Familiar with commonly used materials & forming/manufacturing processes.
- Use of tolerances / preferred limits and fits.
- Conducting 3D scanning & working with point clouds.
- Completing finite element analysis (FEA).
- Must be WA based, required to be at the workshop fulltime.
- Interact with client & team members to develop project scope.
- Formal qualifications in Design & Drafting or Engineering, or trade certificate.
