Our client is a well-established and market leading civil contractor, they are looking for an experienced and dedicated Construction Manager to join their growing business.
Our client provides their services across a number of industry sectors such as building construction, industrial, mining and resources, transport infrastructure, environmental etc. and you will be responsible for contributing to the successful delivery of a number of challenging projects.
Types of projects include civil construction, bulk earthworks, drainage, carparks, roadworks, bridge and mining infrastructure etc. The project works will primarily be of a civil nature with typical values from $2 to $10m but can go higher.
Our client uses advanced technological solutions together with high-quality concrete products, equipment, processes, and skills which enables them to partner with some of the largest developers, builders and the Australian Government.
The Construction Manager will be managing and mentoring the Project Managers, Project Engineers and Site Engineers as well as monitoring KPIs and troubleshooting projects. The business has a strong use of systems, and the construction manager will be driving that in the business.
The PMs under the Construction Manager are responsible for providing sound management of variety of small, large and complex projects including project plans, scope definition, timelines, quality definition, assurance and financial control working.
This role Reports to the Directors and provides a line of management between the delivery team and the Directors. Would suit a strong Project Manager looking to step up or someone who already has the skillset.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Oversee financial management, planning and programming on all projects
- Conduct regular programme and internal project audits
- Manage dispute resolution between both clients and subcontractors
- Provide guidance through the tender process
- Attend tender interviews, client meetings and business development functions
- Review and improve construction methodologies
- Supervise the recruitment, induction and development of project based staff, ensuring regular performance feedback occurs
- Ensure industrial relations issues are resolved and industrial arrangements are up to date
- Reports to owners about progress and any necessary modifications of plans that seem indicated.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or similar
- 7-15 + years’ management experience on civil construction projects
- Project management qualifications will be advantageous
- Proven understanding of construction with a hands-on approach
- Detailed knowledge of local council and regulatory requirements / standards
- Proven ability to effectively lead and delegate
- Effective problem-solving abilities
- Ability to resolve conflict and manage client expectations
- High level of organisation and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Software experience ideally Jobpac, SureTrak, Workbench, MS Project
- Construction Safety Induction (White) card
