Asbestos Surveyor
Environmental and Laboratory Solutions (ELS) is a customer service focused, and results driven occupational hygiene consultancy with offices and laboratories in Brisbane and Sydney. We provide a comprehensive range of asbestos, hazardous materials, and occupational hygiene services throughout Australia.
We are seeking an experienced asbestos surveyor to join us in a full time, permanent position.
Your initial focus will be as the lead surveyor for a recently awarded, 5-year national project, that requires surveys at residential and industrial sites throughout Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australia.
You will also be involved in other projects as required, based on your skill set and career ambitions. This could include asbestos assessor services for removal work, hazmat surveys, contamination assessments, occupational hygiene assessments, mould, moisture and IAQ assessments.
The role will preferably be based in our Brisbane office, although we would consider a Queensland based remote worker.
Travel will be required for the survey project, primarily through Queensland with some interstate. Travel scheduling will be reasonable and flexible, and you will be supported by our other surveyors involved in the project.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Carry out asbestos and hazmat surveys across all types of workplaces.
- Write and review survey reports.
- Provide advice to clients on asbestos management.
- Provide training and mentoring for junior surveyors.
- Assist to plan, schedule, manage and deliver projects.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- 5 years’ experience as an asbestos surveyor.
- Asbestos surveying certificate e.g. IP402
- Membership to a relevant professional association will be highly regarded.
- Current drivers licence.
Person Specification:
The ideal candidate will need to be/have:
- Excellent written communication including a demonstrated ability to write and review technical reports.
- Confident with MS Office applications, and able to quickly learn custom survey, database and project management software.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and confidence when engaging with a variety of stakeholders.
- Good understanding of relevant legislation, codes of practice and standards, and ability to apply this knowledge when providing advice.
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic. We work in a fast-paced environment and pride ourselves on our ability to react quickly to client’s needs.
- Punctual, able to meet deadlines and prioritise own workload.
