About The Role
The Estimator is primarily responsible for the development of quotes from survey reports, work failure requests and refit specifications. The role also delivers the administration required to support the estimating activities. In combination, these responsibilities ensure timely classification, organisation and preparation of work requests resulting from internal and external client queries.
Key Objectives & Responsibilities Include
- Quotations for Defence and Commercial customers preparation
- Ensure quotations and documentation are prepared with a high level of accuracy
- Complete requested tasks in a timely manner
- Document Control
- Receive all Requests for quote / tender and documents and file documents in the correct project folders
- Survey & Quotes
- Compile works breakdown sheet
- Submit to Estimating Manager / Project Manager to forward to customer
- Tender/ Quote preparation
- Raise Subcontractor Request for Procurement to quote and follow up
- Assist with Quote breakdown preparation and with work methodology statements
- Project Material & Purchasing costings
- Raise RFQs for Material / Parts Suppliers and forward to Procurement to supply and follow up
- Project risks/ issues
- Assess project risks and issues and provide recommendations to the Senior Estimator for review and action
- Continuous Improvement
- Work collaboratively with all stakeholders to implement change initiatives and innovative business solutions that deliver productivity and efficiency benefits to Austal and our customers
Required Skills / Experience / Attributes
- 2+ years’ experience of commercial experience in a general service delivery based contracting environment
- Diploma in Business Office Administration and/or relevant experience
- Experience with estimating and/or quoting-related administrative tasks
- Competency in Microsoft Office suite (MS Excel and Microsoft 365 Share Point)
- Time management and organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and work to deadlines, whilst overseeing multiple tasks and projects
- Be results driven, with a strong attention to detail and demonstrated experience providing consistent and high-quality output
