About the job:
The HSEQ Officer will play a pivotal role in coordinating, implementing, and continuously improving DCR's health and safety programs. This role encompasses various responsibilities, including hazard identification, risk management, employee consultation, compliance, incident investigation, and training. The WHSO will work to enhance employee well-being, minimise risk, and maintain legal and statutory compliance. This position will also need to meet the requirements outlined in ISO45001 to ensure the business maintains accreditation.
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Updating and maintaining the LCS2 register
- Tracking & maintenance of supervisions, client needs assessments, care plans compliance records
- Tracking & maintenance of internal & regulatory training registers
- Submit Restrictive Practice monthly reporting through the PRODA portal
- Participate in quality audits as an Audit Team member as required.
- Participate in the workflow process of the WHS incidents and/or hazards identified within the company-including internal & external audits as required.
- Co-ordinate the review of Direct Care Resources emergency and contingency plans on advise by HOD; seek input and advice from department heads and incorporate into the plan.
- Participate in the continual improvement of Direct Care Resources (QMS/SMS).
- Participate in the Company's safety review board as required.
- Embrace Direct Care Resources Safety Management System and ensure all appropriate safety matters are reported to relevant stakeholders and remedial action taken.
- Ensure Company adherence to the WHS & E , Child Safety, NDIS requirements & any other applicable standards)
- Make safety the primary consideration in all operations.
- Ensure all Team operations are compliant with legislative requirements and Company policies.
- Assist the HSEQ department with investigations into safety events when required.

- Have knowledge of Child Safety & NDIS obligations and associated legislations & Standards.
- Must have a clear understanding of the requirements of the Work Health Safety/Quality Assurance role.
- Demonstrated experience within the industry.
Qualifications/Experience/Required Training:
- Successful completion of a course in safety management (at least equivalent to a course required to gain certification as a Lead Auditor).
- Successful completion of Cert IV WHS
- Demonstrated experience within the care industry.
- At least 2 years’ experience in Quality & Safety Assurance
- Able to be issued and maintain a Blue card
- Able to be issued and maintain a Disability Services Positive Notice Card
- This position is a full-time role based in Brisbane. This role requires you to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
