The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world.
Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.
Purpose of the Role:
This role is responsible for overseeing and managing the grouting, backfilling, and steel lining operations as part of the Snowy 2.0 project. The role focuses on coordinating and optimising critical activities while ensuring efficient spoil management and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, the effective management of the team and collaboration with project stakeholders to achieve successful spoil management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field (or equivalent work experience) is preferred
- Relevant certifications in tunnelling, grouting, backfilling, steel lining, and spoil management are preferred.

Experience:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience working in the Construction Industry in a similar role (preferred).
- Experience working on large scale construction projects or other suitable projects works.
- Proven experience in grouting, backfilling, and steel lining operations, specifically in tunnelling projects.
- Demonstrated experience effectively leading and supervising teams involved in grouting, backfilling, and steel lining.
Required Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of grouting, backfilling, steel lining techniques, equipment specific to tunnelling projects.
- Familiarity with relevant safety and environmental regulations related to grouting, backfilling, steel lining, and spoil management.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and project plans related to grouting, backfilling, and steel lining.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to address challenges and optimise spoil management processes.
- Effective leadership and team management abilities to coordinate and guide the respective teams.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to liaise with project stakeholders, subcontractors and regulatory agencies.
- Familiarity with quality control processes and procedures to ensure high standards of workmanship and adherence to project specifications.
- Ability to work to deadlines and targets and prioritise tasks under pressure.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
- Ability and willingness to learn and use different software systems, eg E7.
Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Grouting, Backfilling, and Steel Lining Operations Management
- Oversee and manage grouting, backfilling, and steel lining operations, ensuring adherence to project specifications, safety protocols, and industry best practices.
- Coordinate with engineering and project teams to align activities with project timelines and objectives.
- Monitor progress, assess equipment performance and make adjustments to optimise efficiency and quality of grouting, backfilling, and steel lining.
Team Leadership and Training
- Lead and manage the grouting, backfilling and steel lining teams, providing guidance, training and support to ensure their competency and compliance with safety standards.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions, promoting a strong safety culture and minimizing accidents or incidents.
- Foster a positive work environment, encourage teamwork and promote professional development within the teams.
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare accurate and timely reports on grouting, backfilling, steel lining operations, spoil management activities, and compliance with regulations.
- Maintain records of plans, spoil transportation permits, disposal receipts and other relevant documentation.
- Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, providing updates on progress, spoil management challenges and recommendations.
